So/Who Are You
05:37
|
|||
Weren't You born into poverty, no money to Your name?
How has a man with no property gathered this much fame?
Why do you claim to already know the answers priests have sought?
What kind of commoner tells us to go above what we've been taught?
Who are You? You, who's captured my attention.
Who are You? All bow down at Your mere mention.
A liar, a lunatic, or the Lord.
Maybe I'll listen if You tell me more.
Placed my faith in the empirical – the rest are all abstract
But if there’s truth to Your miracles, my doubts, I will retract.
So controversial in every way, no shred of normalcy.
What shook the world, even still today, is who You claimed to be.
Tortured like a villain, a death worthy of a thief.
But to hear this story’s ending goes beyond suspending disbelief
He died, He rose, He lives again – all for our recompense.
While everything else fades away, we speak of Him in present-tense.

Through Thick and Thin
03:31
|
|||
Through thick and thin, to bitter end
Through hell, high water, where I’m sent
I’ll trust you then, I’ll trust you now
A friend is what I cannot do without
I did not know what love had looked like
I did not think it was for me
In darkness, you had brought me to light
A gift I constantly receive
I can’t repay the debts I owe you
That task, alone, would take me years
You’ve made the journeys that I go through
Worth all the blood and sweat and tears
You’ve built me up with a foundation
Yet you don’t set me up to fall
For all your constant affirmations
I’d lay my life down for you all
Who needs to fear the road abandoned?
It’s not as frightening as it sounds
As long as I’m among companions
Who’d follow me through death like hounds

Clemency
02:35
|
|||
Have mercy on me, for life gets the better of me sometimes.
I should have known better, since history doesn’t repeat, but rhymes.
It’s easier said than done to turn away,
But I know Your joy will be mine some day.
It’s hard, but we’re no longer innocent children
We fear justice, since we just want to be forgiven.
So in vain, we will try, and will try again.
We tend to forget, in the end, we’re just women and men.
So here I am, taking in everything You give that I don’t deserve.
And I know that You’re asking me to distribute, not to reserve,
A chance for the rest of the world to be free.
For these people are no less deserving than me.
I trust in You.
I trust in You.
I trust in You.
This trust is true.

Easter People
03:47
|
|||
We are an Easter people – hallelujah is our song.
Fools we may be in this world; in our weakness, we are strong.
We clap our hands and raise our fists, for we just won a war.
And our joy refuses to be still within our hearts
So why do we sing in the first place?
To breathe is cause for celebration
So hear this shout, this declaration
A time to be alive – salvation has arrived
Let’s bring this News to Your attention
Of life, of death, of resurrection
In that, we are redeemed
Heaven’s no longer a dream
We stretch our arms out, reaching for a peace beyond this world
That we desire so much more than diamonds or pearls
We sing until we can’t, then shout of feelings too profound
Until we touch the sky, and our knees fall to the ground
